When I tried to open HP director i saw that it didn't open , I spent a lot of time reinstalling their bad software to find out that it happens if you have explorer 7.
They have a solution to that in their site:

That's a very bad design to make a printing and scanning software dependant on the internet explorer.
I can only recommend not to buy HP in the future.
Their software are full with bugs and installation problems and the drivers too complicated and have problems.
Other factories are also bad though, but HP is the worse.
